PostHeaderIcon How does one account for unknowns when planning and managing a project?

For instance, if one step of a project requires fixing an unknowable number of erroneous records in a huge database, how does one determine or estimate the amount of time and other resources required and factor it into the bigger picture?

PostHeaderIcon Accounting Question. Please Help Final Project!?

Heres the question, I’m trying to Journalize it in the General Journal.

Adjustments:
Motha’s Day Care has provided services to the social agency for a total of 15 days during the month of April. On each of those 15 days 3 of the social agency’s children were serviced. The social agency has not sent the payment yet. (April 30th)

Agreed to provide service for an social service agency at a daily rate of 25$/child w/ payment due on the 30th of each month.

OK I know that I will be Debiting 1,125 and Crediting 1,125 but I don’t know in which account please help!

PostHeaderIcon Which should I use accrual or cash accounting system for a small one man company (consultant)?

I’m setting up Quickbooks for a man I work for part-time. He’s a small one-man outfit (consultant) who basically doesn’t have steady income, he works from project to project. I work around his schedule (work when there’s a project going on, don’t work when he’s traveling or has nothing going on). Is it better to set up his books on a cash basis? He really doesn’t have any monthly recurring payments other than rent and utilities. I’m not in the office regularly to keep up with accruals – would cash accounting be better?

I will soon begin start a project as bookkeeper for for an S corporation, using Quickbooks. I typically do bookkeeping for sole owner proprietorships. I understand that there are income tax differences … but, my question is whether I need to do anything special when doing the accounting books for an S corporation.
